Monongahela National Forest
Now over 919,000 acres, it’s hard to describe all the features of the Monongahela National Forest. For starters, there are 500 miles of trails, 230 species of birds, 90% of the trout fishing waters in West Virginia and Spruce Knob, the highest point in the state. Five federally designated wilderness areas, 75 species of trees, 12 rivers, and a timber program that averages 30 million board feet per year, round out the program. Impressive, yet serene, pristine and natural.
